What's In My New Cathy London Women's Backpack #CathyLondon #Backpack #whatsinmybag #Lakme #Maybelline #SilkyGirl

To be honest, I have been dying to get a proper black bag with amazing studs or spikes for a long time now. But unfortunately, the ones that I see in stores here in India are a huge disappointment, at least to me, and the ones I saw on other sites had super high shipping charges, which I didn't think was worth it.

This backpack is originally priced at INR 3499, but I got it at INR 1570.

So finally, I decided to give this cute black backpack a try. The brand is Cathy London and I have used their bags earlier, so I know the quality is really good. In fact theirs was one of my favourite bags. Also, the fact that I have been traveling a lot lot lot of late and have been using backpacks quite often made it more sensible that I try it out.

The combination of black, the fake leather (I am not sure what it is called) material, the studs and it being a backpack is what did it for me.

I bought it on Amazon, and have used it for about a week now. The first thing that anyone who saw me wearing it said was that they were surprised that I decided to go for a smaller bag, as I am more of a huge tote person, and my bags carry my world. I absolutely love my huge bags, but I am in love with this one now! And they were also quick to mention that it looked absolutely fantastic and chic. I can't agree more.

Check out the studs....aren't they absolutely stunning? The best part is that they are not too in your face, and look really nice, and even though there is some bling, it is not too loud.

The backpack comes with three separate areas - the biggest one at the back, the middle one, and a small one at the front. I was really happy to find that the one at the front was also a functional space, as earlier I thought it was just for show.

The adjustable straps are really cool, as they help you adjust the height you want to wear your backpack at. You can also easily wear it in the front if you are traveling by local transport and want to make sure that everything is safe.

Contrary to what it looks like, the bag can actually fit in a lot and comes with real good space inside. This was a huge surprise, as I honestly did not expect this much space.

It also has another small zipper inside in the main big compartment, which is perfect to store your keys or anything of importance that is small in size and you want to be easily accessible.

This is the front compartment I was talking about. It has a lot of space for smaller objects, and I made good use of it too.

I recently used this backpack as an overnighter. I had gone to meet a friend and ended up staying back at her place. While I did not carry a lot, I did take along enough to help me for a night. Which is exactly why I bought this bag for in the first place, to help me carry enough stuff for a day and night.

So yes, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, and I can't travel without my lippies. You all know how much I love them. These are the things I stored in the small space you saw at the front.

From L to R:

Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet And Dry Compact in Beige Honey

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro Pop Lip Balm Shade Berry Bomb

Lakme 9 to 5 Creaseless Creme Lip Color

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro Pop Lip Balm Shade Fierce N Tangy

The chunky lipstick you see is a brand called Silky Girl which I have seen only in Malayasia till date. Their range of matte and creme lip crayons are AMAZING and you should definitely check the website. I have 6 of their gorgeous shades and am still craving for the rest :) Definitely try it out if you can lay your hands on them.

The silver rings I have picked up during my trips to Goa, from the Tibetan markets that have an amazing and very special collection of these finds. The green and white case is for my contact lenses.

This is what I carried in my main compartment. The green bag is a travel bag that I used to keep some things I had to give my friend. The big pouch is my wallet. And the cute thing you see alongside is my key ring that has about 5 different charms on it :)

In the middle space I carried my phone charger, my spectacle case and my Nakamichi ear phones.

I also carried my medicines, a travel size moisturizer from Biotique and a stick of mints.

So you see, even though it looks really small, the bag has a huge amount of space. In fact I also carried a small water bottle in it but that was after I had given my friend her stuff, as else it could have dented the material of the bag.

#Travel #Goa Goa Lookbook #WhatIWore #BeachClothes

Hey you wonderful people,

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I was off for a quick runaway to Goa, my favouritestestest place in the world, and I am back now, all tanned, fully tanned, and full of frizz....well that is my hair condition almost all the time, whether I am at the beach, at home, or at work...more on that later.

For now, I thought I would share a few looks that I was wearing in Goa, barely any makeup on though, but it was all so casual and relaxed that the clothes were also fun and chilled out. If you have been out and about of late and have clicked your looks (I am sure you have ;) ) do share them with me..I love to see what others wear when they are on vacation.

And yes, I am no style master, so whatever I put on is purely based on comfort, which is top most in my styling priority, and what I fancy at the moment, of course also based on where I am going. So if you don't like something I wear, please don't kill me over it..thanks :)

This was just before I was heading out for clubbing in Baga, Goa, and this was about 11pm. I am wearing a simple pair of denim shorts, an old loose t-shirt, and carrying a basic sling. I am also wearing a simple pair of flat cloth shoes that look like denim. Makeup is minimal, and my super-greasy and frizzy hair is done in a half up style.

I am wearing a very old black turtleneck top here, it's about 15 years old, and still works great! And fits me great too :) The same pair of simple denim shorts. The gorgeous neckpiece you see here is bright and makes any outfit look fab. It was a gift and was found in the street market in Kolkata.

By the way, if you like the hair colour, it's the new home hair colour kit from BBlunt in the new range BBlunt Salon Secret High Shine Creme Hair Colour and the shade is Wine Deep Burgundy 4.20 Its an AWESOME COLOUR and shows up soooooo gorgeous! The pic that you see here is almost 3 months after I coloured my hair and still it shows up really pretty in the sun! Even as I am sharing this I am sitting with a head full of another gorgeous shade from the same range, and this time it is Blueberry Blue Black 2.10

I picked up this black and white striped long top that I paired with the same pair of simple denim shorts, again!! I bought them at Max store, for about INR 500. I generally do not wear cut sleeves, I am very irritated by my flabby arms, but am working on it, and thought it would be a good idea to experiment a bit. Makeup - Garnier BB cream, Maybelline colossal kajal, Colorbar liquid matte lipcolour in the shade Rustic and a little touch up with Lakme 9 to 5 in the shade Scarlett Drill, blush is also by Colorbar in the shade 009 Coral Craving, range is Cheekillusion blush.

This is an old pair of yellow cotton shorts I picked up from a Lifestyle store about 2 years back, and it was priced at about INR 500. The tee shirt is handpainted, I bought it for INR 350 at an art and handicraft mela in Mumbai this January. No makeup here, just a Maybelline compact to clear the grease at the beach and Maybelline baby lips lip balm in the electro pop range, in the shade Berry Crush.

This is more like a cover up and can also be worn as a cute kurti with leggings and even jeggings. You can wear it over your swimming costume, and I wore it with pale denim shorts. The top is a gorgeous bright colour and cost me about INR 350. The chappal I picked up from Max for about INR 300. The cloth jhola I picked up at a street stall in Goa for about INR 300.

Another gorgeous colour I have not tried earlier (I am starting to experiment and wear colours other than black!) and picked up this bright beautiful and absolutely soft and comfortable cotton kurta from a street stall in Goa for about INR 300. It works great as a cover up, can be worn as a regular kurti with jeggings and I paired it with pale blue denim shorts. The chappal is the same as above and the bright cloth backpack I had picked up on an earlier trip to Goa, for INR 300 from a street stall.

And now, I'm gonna sign off with a kiss to you all...

Oriflame Eco Beauty Range Launch At J W Marriott Mumbai #SkinCare #Organic

I have loved using Oriflame products in the past, and have collaborated with them in earlier posts, which was for their new makeup range.

This time, however, it was a launch of a different kind. Oriflame has recently come out with a new range of skin care products, that are more geared towards being eco-friendly, and use more natural ingredients instead of harsher ones.

The event was held at the beautiful J W Marriott in Mumbai, and was different from regular launch events. For starters, it was an eco brunch, where bloggers and vloggers were invited to come and indulge in some delicious healthy and light foods and snacks, along with delicious and more natural based drinks. The decor was beautiful, with more greens and fresh flowers everywhere.

I generally avoid going to launch parties, as I find most of them are the same, where we are told about the product and then eat and drink and leave. This one though promised to be different, and it was :)

The invite for the eco brunch arrived in a beautiful cardboard box with pretty floral motifs. And hey, it had a pair of miniature jars - one with organic rose tea and the other with organic potpourri. I absolutely loved the fragrance of the potpourri, and being a lover of teas, I loved the rose tea as well. I will be honest - I have never received an invite like this before.

Obviously selfie is mandatory, so here I am, checking myself one last time before I get back to the event ;)

ECO was the word at the event, and for the new line of products as well. Here was a fun game where we were asked to choose what the words NATURAL, RADIANT and HEALTHY mean to us.

The delicious kokum sharbat - just realized now that the colour matches my lips :)

My gift - a beautiful plant in a lovely jute bag

The Oriflame EcoBeauty range of toner

The Oriflame EcoBeauty range of face cream

The Oriflame EcoBeauty range of eye cream

I have been using the products for a while now, and it's a good time to come out with the reviews and to tell you what I think of the same. All I can say for now is that Oriflame has always been a very loved brand and their products are always made in a way that is good for your skin. No harsh chemicals and ingredients. These too are good to use, so do come back and read up if you would like to know more about it :)

Fun Bandana And Pop Skirt Dressup #StreetShopping #MumbaiStreetShopping

Check this out... I have forever wanted to wear a bright colour and a bohemian look. and guess what I found at the local handicraft street mela?

and as most of you will know, this is such a deviation from my regular love of black and all things dark ;)

A prettttyyyyyyy green based tribal skirt with amazing tribal motifs. And that headband that I am wearing is also something I picked up from another stall. at that time i did not buy it to match anything, but just picked it up like that. but what a coincidence! :)

this was the initial look (of course i didn't wear these home slippers outside - btw, these home slippers are 4 years old! and i had bought them for about INR 900 as these are the ones you wear to get minimum pressure on your soles).

so here i am wearing a pair of leggings that i bought at #Hypercity about 2 years back for INR 500 and the top I bought from #Lifestylestore for INR 200. The neckpiece i got from another art exhibition at a Mumbai museum #DrBhauDajiLadmuseum i bought it for INR 200.

the bangles are silver ones i bought in Kolkata and the rings are also silver that I picked up from a Tibetan market in Goa.

just paired it first with the bandana

i love the pop of colour it gives :)

just tried it on with the top i was wearing to see the fit. will be wearing it with a black turtleneck.

DIY Detox Tea #Detoxtea

I know this looks a bit scary, but this is an amazing detox tea I finally prepared at home, and trust me, if you are looking at natural ways to stay fit and healthy and cleanse your system, this is something you can try.

Its really really easy to make at home, and knowing the Her Highness of Laziness that I am, trust me I wouldn't go for something that is too excessive. So without me rambling on much, take a look.

Take The Following And Make Into A Powder (it is okay to keep it a little granulated, else you can make a fine powder in the blender as well)

cinnamon, black pepper corns, turmeric root, methi seeds, dry ginger also known as saunth (you can also use turmeric powder if you can't find turmeric root, but its best to grind it at home)

There is no specific quantity that I followed, I just took a good amount of each. You can take the quantity as per your choice, but make sure it is enough to fill up about half of a glass container, as you can easily store it for months.

Once done, store the mix in a dry airtight container, preferably glass.

To prepare the tea, heat a mug of water and add half a teaspoon of the tea mix to it. Make sure to stir it well, as else the powder will settle at the bottom. The best time to have this tea is right in the morning on an empty stomach.

By the way, did you all know that turmeric tea is also all the rage these days? It started as a rage in the West in the form of turmeric latte and has now started featuring very prominently in most tea cafes in India as well.

Cinnamon is loaded with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that make it a super spice. It protects against regular cold and cough and also helps to boost your immunity, as well as keep the aches and pains at bay. It is also great at fighting infections and helps to repair damaged tissues. Having cinnamon on a regular basis also prevents the risk of heart diseases and keeps your heart comparatively healthy. It's also great for your metabolism and is a known fighter of diabetes. Also, regular use of cinnamon keeps you protected against neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.

Turmeric has been used in Indian homes as a traditional medicine against pain, inflammation, for healing wounds as well as for reducing cough and cold. It keeps your skin healthy and reduces signs of aging, especially pigmentation and fine lines. Regular use of turmeric keeps your brain protected against age related damage and wear and tear and also improves brain function. It is also good for your heart. While it is not confirmed yet but some research is being conducted to check if turmeric may help prevent cancer. Turmeric is especially good to reduce aches and pains as well as reduce and prevent problems arising out of arthritis.

Black Pepper helps in keeping your digestive system working smooth and especially helps avoid constipation. It also helps to remove toxins from the body through frequent urination and sweating. It also helps to dispel gas formation from the body. As it helps to break down fat cells, black pepper is also a natural way to promote healthy weight loss. Pepper also helps to prevent vitiligo, a condition in which the skin turns white. Using black pepper on a regular basis will also keep your respiratory tract clear and prevent any mucous buildup. It also helps those who suffer from sinus. Black pepper also has strong antibacterial qualities and is also known to keep the mind sharper.

Fenugreek or Methi Seeds keeps your cholesterol levels in check and keeps your digestive system healthy. It also prevents and reduces any inflammation in the body, as well as enhances appetite. Methi seeds are especially good for lactating mums as it promotes the production of breast milk. It also reduces your risk of cardiovascular diseases and helps to keep your sugar levels in check. If you suffer from menstrual cramps or if you are looking at reducing and maintaining your weight, fenugreek is a great option.

Dry Ginger is known to aid in preventing cold and cough as well as reduce your regular aches and pains. It is also great at fighting off infections and is especially good for those who suffer from headaches. Dry ginger also keeps your stomach in good health and promotes metabolism. It keeps you safe against urinary infections and also helps to remove flatulence. For those suffering from acne as well as those who want to lose or maintain weight, dry ginger can be very beneficial.

Quick And Easy Get Ready With Me #GRWM For Office And Mini Reviews: Featuring #Amazon #VaadiHerbals #Maybelline #Lakme #Coloressence #Garnier

So this is a very basic look I did for work, and trust me, even though I love makeup and all, I can't take more than 5 to 10 minutes to get ready. For starters, I don't have that much time to spend on makeup and getting ready, nor do I have the patience. So yes, all the products I have used will be mentioned below in detail, along with links from where you can buy them if you choose to do so :)

If you like the overall look or anything in particular, do read on, and thanks :)

Yes that's me...obviously you've seen me like this many times before, and here I am with the horrible zit that suddenly decides to grace me at the age of 35! Grrrr.... By the way, it was really horrible and painful, and I applied a plain white toothpaste last night to make it dry out, so today morning when I woke up, of course it was still there, but really dried out and no pain !!! Quick and effective home remedy isn't it? In this image, I have nothing on my face at all.

Products Used

I used a total of 7 products for the entire look, so here's a look at what I used.

  1. Lakme Compact in the shade Beige Honey
  2. Vaadi Herbals Lavender Anti-Ageing Massage Cream
  3. Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro Pop in the flavour Fierce N Tangy
  4. Coloressence Aqua Makeup Base in the shade Pink LF-4
  5. Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte in the shade Pink Fantasy
  6. Maybelline Colossal Kajal
  7. Garnier Light Anti Dark Circle Roll On
Here's a look at the products in the order I used them:

1. Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro Pop Fierce N Tangy

I absolutely love this one, the fragrance is too good and I love the taste of lime zest it leaves on my lips. I won't say this is the best lip balm for dry or chapped lips, at least not for me, but it is a close second to the Neutrogena one that I love.

Price INR 134

2. Vaadi Herbals Lavender Anti-Ageing Massage Cream

I love trying out face creams but this is definitely one of the best I have ever used. Not only is it really really kind on my skin, but the fact that it is lavender based is a sure winner. I love the relaxing fragrance, especially for a person like me who has sleep and headache issues, and this one takes care of all that, plus my dry skin. And yes, even though it says anti-ageing, which I am fine to use since I am 35 and have no qualms about, absolutely anyone could use it.

Price INR 149

3. Coloressence Aqua Makeup Base in the shade Pink LF-4

I got this as a review product and have loved it absolutely, especially as I have never tried something like this before. It is not at all heavy, and I loved the fact that just a tiny dot of the product is enough to give my face a boost of freshness. I don't like foundations, so this really helped :)

Price INR 180

4. Garnier Light Anti Dark Circle Roll On

I used this to add a tiny dot on the zit. Sorry but couldn't find the link online.

5. Lakme Compact in the shade Beige Honey

This is a repurchase, as I loved the Lakme Compact. It stays on for long without making the skin look dry or cakey, and takes care of any oiliness. Good for those with dry skin as well as oily skin.

Price INR 700

6. Maybelline Colossal Kajal Black

Okay, so I don't really need to say much about this, we all have used and used and used and loved this, at least I have. This is the one I wear all the time, as I only use kajal and not eyeliner.

7. Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte in the shade Pink Fantasy

I love the Lakme Absolute Lip Pout Matte series. My first purchase in this was the orange one called Tangerine Touch. This is one of the best matte pink shades I have ever tried, and it's creamy as well.

Price INR 487

And here's a little look at the complete look and the dress

Even though the dress is really pretty, let me just say that it is not for me :) As in, I didn't like myself in it. But it's a lovely and beautiful dress nonetheless.

Price INR 379 !!!!!

An old pair of tan boots I picked up from a store for about INR 700.
